As most of you know the NSCRA is a South Florida based Sport Compact Drag Racing Sanction hosting all their events in Palm Beach; founded by two ex-racers committed to bringing life back into what once was the heart of our import automotive community. At Formula D Round 2 – Atlanta I bumped into an old friend, Paul, who I haven’t seen in quite a long time. While stationed in Korea he picked up photography as a hobby and started attending local drift events. It was a dark, depressing day with the looks of nothing but rain in it’s future. But Carlos Alvarez and the rest of the Ultra Evolution staff were determined to put on a great event and succeeded. With the help of some local vendors and club support, Carlos was able to put on a great event, not just for cars but for clubs also. We’ve had the amazing opportunity to be a Media Sponsor for Formula Drift’s 2011 season. It has been an unforgettable experience and has given me the chance to meet some of the coolest people in our industry and around the globe. Formula Drift makes it to Wall Speedway in NJ for their 8th time. It was hot, muggy and after swallowing mouth loads of rubber and inhaling gallons of tire smoke; I can honestly say it was a great time! This is one of the smaller courses on the FD schedule, but due to its high banks and figure 8 infield, it created some of the best FD action I’ve seen this season. The wall on turn 1, did what Wall is most famous for, claim car after car. Parts were flying and competition was intense. Enjoy the pics from Joe Dantone and stay tuned for parts 2 & 3 of Round 4...

Opening ceremonies are a great way to be introduced to the top 16 drivers and grab some free shirts thrown by your favorite drifter or model. JTP and Matt Powers battling it out. This is part 2 of our multi part coverage of the Formula Drift event in Palm Beach, FL. Day 2 was final qualifying and it was just as hot out as the day before. The course layout had been changed slightly since a few drivers made friends with the wall a few times on the original layout. However, this didn’t stop these guys from driving at an extremely high level.    It’s been an action packed season and this event in Palm Beach was no different. We have all been looking forward to this event for some time now and it feels like it came and went so quickly. First time Formula D comes to Florida? This is a huge deal to us! I even went out and bought a new MacBook Pro so that I could get the event pictures out to you guys sooner, but unfortunately Formula D did not have WiFi readily available (they were using the bandwidth for the live stream) and to top it off my friends house that I was staying at for the weekend did not have WiFi either. Here are some shots from Day 1 (Friday) of Formula Drift Round 2 in Atlanta. Friday was the day for Pro Am Practice, Qualifying and Competition with some Pro practice and Qualifying mixed in. It was great to see all of the Florida drivers out there kicking butt…hell, 10 out of the 16 drivers that qualified in Pro Am and 2 of the 3 winners of the competition were Florida drivers. My car was not ready for the event (pending battery issues and approval for my roll bar) but Oliver and I made the trek to support the guys at Flat6 and hang out in the pits. Oliver brought his camera and a few lenses and walked around capturing the event in his eyes.
