Upping your STÄTUS Jun29

Upping your STÄTUS

If you’re into building cars and into driving cars, then you know how important the proper seat it. It is the only thing that truly connects the driver to the car. While building my car I was given the opportunity to install a seat from STÄTUS, courtesy of Flat6 Motorworks. The seat, a STÄTUS Ring GT in black leather with a carbon fiber shell, was fitted with a 6-point harness with a cam lock system; also from STÄTUS.          The thing about this seat is the details. From the soft, touchable leather down to the stitching; not a single detail was overlooked. The leather outer grabs the carbon fiber shell as if the two are one....

The Dark Knight

Today we take a look at Adeeb’s Black EK Civic, which, by many, is considered one of the cleanest civic’s in CapeTown. Adeeb started this build in January last year when he bought the car. It was still white at the time, one owner and it was in prestine condition. Adeeb always...

Flush Friday | Track...

It’s been a slow Friday so I spent some time surfing around the interwebz looking at random things; fashion, fitness, cars, electronics. Then out of nowhere I come across this picture on Dsalnidrawn and I can’t stop staring at it. It’s raw, mean, has character, it means business,...

24 Hours of Formula Drift

We’ve had the amazing opportunity to be a Media Sponsor for Formula Drift’s 2011 season. It has been an unforgettable experience and has given me the chance to meet some of the coolest people in our industry and around the globe. This last event was different, its been a very long time since I have had a camera in my hands and even longer since I’ve done so for motorsports. Considering I’ve spent the last year behind a computer looking at code, writing articles, sending emails and packing and unpacking booths; the best parts of this last year have been meeting so many of you, either at events or at our booths....

Formula D Palm Beach Video Jun21

Formula D Palm Beach Video

When Formula D came to Florida we wanted to go all out seeing as it was on our home turf. We enlisted the help of as much media personnel as John P. would let me. I called my friend Mikey Bajer, a film student, to come shoot a great video for us. Although he has never shot an automotive event before and the last drift event he attended was 7 years ago (Falken Drift Showoff at Homestead) after seeing some of his work I felt as if he was up to the challenge and would produce an amazing video. David Atash and Brian Clementi were also more than ready to run back and forth between the pro cars right before they take off to get some astounding...

Up in smoke at Formula D New Jersey Part 2

Part 2 of our multi part Formula D New Jersey coverage. Enjoy!

Up in smoke at Formula D Round 4 at Wall, NJ

Formula Drift makes it to Wall Speedway in NJ for their 8th time. It was hot, muggy and after swallowing mouth loads of rubber and inhaling gallons of tire smoke; I can honestly say it was a great time! This is one of the smaller courses on the FD schedule, but due to its high banks and figure 8 infield, it created some of the best FD action I’ve seen this season. The wall on turn 1, did what Wall is most famous for, claim car after car. Parts were flying and competition was intense. Enjoy the pics from Joe Dantone and stay tuned for parts 2 & 3 of Round 4...

Nuthin’ but a G thang Jun19

Nuthin’ but a G thang

G37 that is, but since he does, we’ll just call it the G. Normally a Mercedes guy, this Infiniti was a step away from the norm for Chris Enrique, but that hasn’t shown through at all. Everything you’d expect to see in a nicely modded Mercedes you can find on this Infiniti, simple, yet classy, and in what other color but silver?   With that said, Chris has his own style that many trends don’t influence at all, this G could easily be sitting on +5 offset 20x10s with 235s stretched on them but that isn’t what he wanted with this car. Some might say there are “flush” guys, and there are...

Friday Night Import

Hey SOS viewers Zacdaniel here form South Africa. Don’t really know what to write to you about myself and so on, so I’ll get down to what I’m here for, Cars, Photography and Fun while doing it… This shoot wasn’t really a planned shoot it just happened, the owner...

Formula D Round 3 INVASION: Finale

Here it is…the finale to our three part coverage of Formula D Round 3. I can’t believe it has been 2 weeks since the event and Round 4 is this weekend! . . . . . . Opening ceremonies are a great way to be introduced to the top 16 drivers and grab some free shirts thrown by your favorite drifter or model. JTP and Matt Powers battling it out. JTP and D MAC getting very close. D MAC and Chris Forsberg inches from each other. .  .  It was an all Falken podium with Justin Pawlak in first, Vaugh Gittin JR in second and Darren McNamara in third! Check out the rest of the action shots in the gallery below. ...

Flush Friday | Tuck&...

When building a purpose built track car, builders always say “if it doesn’t make the car faster, lighter, or safer then it doesn’t belong on the car.” Georgie Guevara takes a similar approach when it comes to his 1996 VW Golf GTI purpose built show car, only instead of using the words...

Minimalistic GS300 Jun15

Minimalistic GS300

When is come to cars, minimalistic is not always the best building approach to get attention. But then again, builds should not always be about getting attention. Some builds are about the reflection of the owner. Some builds are about beauty through simplicity. Anthony Stagliano did just that with his ’04 Lexus GS300.      Rolling on VarrsToen ES 1.1.2 Hyper Black (19×9.5 +22 / 19×10.5 +22) and Achilles ATR Sport (225/35/19 front, 245/35/19 rear), Anthony’s car looks sinful as the fenders ever so gracefully snuggle the tires courtesy of Megan LP Coilovers w/ custom front RCA’s. As a resident of West Palm...

Formula D: Round 3 at PBIR – Practice/Qualif...

This is part 2 of our multi part coverage of the Formula Drift event in Palm Beach, FL. Day 2 was final qualifying and it was just as hot out as the day before. The course layout had been changed slightly since a few drivers made friends with the wall a few times on the original layout. However, this didn’t stop these guys from driving at an extremely high level.    It’s been an action packed season and this event in Palm Beach was no different. Even in the qualifying rounds the compwttion was fierce.    Enjoy the pics and keep your eyes peeled for Day 3 coverage to post in the next few days. ...

Flush Friday | SoS x...

Shortly after the release of our SoS Edition CCW wheel finish. I came acorss this gorgeous AP2 S2000 on S2ki. I’m absolutley in love with the way the teal looks on the white and the fitment is on point. It was also quite the head-turner at the East Coast Honda Meet this past weekend. I...

Chopped, Dropped and Mean as Fuuu Jun09

Chopped, Dropped and Mean as Fuuu

Nick Weber and his father are the sole principle of Nick’s Customs. A shop based out of Jersey that builds good ‘ole bare hands, torched, cut and welded rolling art. So it’s no surprise that Nick’s 1946 Chevy Pick Up is nothing short of a masterpiece. I called Joe to let him know I was coming up to chill with him at the next Formula Drift event at Wall Speedway when he says to me, “You have to see this truck I just finished shooting!” And after a quick pic he shot over to me my first reaction was; “Please tell me you shoot it for SoS..” And so here it is, Nick’s beautiful creation,...

Subaru Flips Over Hay Bale During Race Jun08

Apparently, this particular JDM Subaru WRX had been “borrowed” from its owner, who was on vacation. And since you can actually hardly fault the hay bales themselves, we’re guessing this driver, who was not seriously injured in the accident, is gonna have some serious...

Formula D: Round 3 at PBIR – Day 1

We have all been looking forward to this event for some time now and it feels like it came and went so quickly. First time Formula D comes to Florida? This is a huge deal to us! I even went out and bought a new MacBook Pro so that I could get the event pictures out to you guys sooner, but unfortunately Formula D did not have WiFi readily available (they were using the bandwidth for the live stream) and to top it off my friends house that I was staying at for the weekend did not have WiFi either. I had quite a bit of bad luck through the weekend with my car breaking down after Friday’s event (If you were driving on Beeline and PGA...

Robb Hopkins is one of those builders that looks to achieve very specific goals when tuning a car. He mentioned to me that he is chasing perfection, chasing the trifecta; power, handling and looks. Power gets checked off the list with 330whp thanks to a larger turbo, full exhaust, front mount...

Not A One Hit Wonder Jun02

Not A One Hit Wonder

While writing this up I can’t help to think about the first time I met Huey. It was at the Simply Clean 2 event. As I stood there watching everybody stare at his Civic in astonishment, I couldn’t help to think as beautiful as this car was, can he do it again? Well…Huey defiantly delivers. Huey known for changing rims like some of us change clothes, has also had people waiting for the next event to see what he’ll do next. Kind of like a band releasing new hits, Huey is not a one hit wonder. After sitting down and talking to him during a previous photo shoot I learned that he shared the same goal as me. Which was...

Daily Driving Is Not A Crime Jun01

Daily Driving Is Not A Crime

I met Mike earlier this year while at an event for AEG. Dan contacted me and asked if I had room in the booth for a sik IS he has just fitted with very aggressive LM20s. When it comes to CCWs and fitment, Dan is never wrong. So of course I said yes. While setting up, I get a call from Mike; he seemed to have been having some geographical issues and was in the wrong location. He was so lost that the event started without his car in the booth. I got some pretty heated stares as I was holding an empty slot (a big car show taboo). I kept saying, “Believe me, the car will be worth it.”  Then about an hour into the event, Mike rolls...
