Realizing Small Things Make Big Differences

There are different ways to build a car. You can prepare it to shred through cones at an autocross event, give it the corner balancing and power to weight of a perfect road course car, or throw on several coats of wax and tire shine and take it to every show you can drive (or trailer) it to. Then there is yet another way, however it is a path that is commonly over looked and that is precisely what Karl Izler has done with his MKVI GTI. He built it as VW should have from the factory, using tons of OEM parts and some quality aftermarket bits to tie in his look.

While this car looks borderline stock (aside from the obvious air ride and wheels which ill get back to) it has a lot of minor OEM differences to set it apart from any regular MKVI. For starters the OEM LED tail lights which is one of my favorite features on the car, come standard on the Golf R 20. The interior is also fitted with various Golf R 20 parts as well as OE European parts.

Under the hood is the standard 2.0l tsi Turbo engine which Karl has brought to life with a stage 1 flash from APR. Which he will be upgrading to a stage 2 very soon. Touching back on what I mentioned earlier, the car is sits the way it does thanks to an Airlift air ride system, Dorbritz Design “D-cups” rear bag perches, and Dorbrtiz Design Autopilot V1 Sunglass holder case. The wheels are Raderwerks Nobles with a custom green with gold pearl flake powder coat. They sit flush at 17×8.5 +38 in the front and 17×9.5 +39 rear.

Keep an eye out for this car at SoWo as well as other local events!
